We hit San Antonio about 1pm, parked up and went roaming. The weather had been kind to us today as it was well above 70F - I even burnt my little developing bald spot - ouch! San Antonio is very much our sort of town, it is laid back, full of lovely walks and restaurants. There are two main attractions to see in the town - one is the River walk, which meanders from and back to the to the San Antonio river. It is lined with lovely hotels and places to eat/drink - below are a few snaps of the river:

Half tree trunk - Half Edwards

There was this other place which you may have heard of is the Alamo! I must admit I didn't realise it would be slap bang in the middle of such a large town - I had the impression it would be out in the middle of nowhere like a desert or something. There is not much left of it now but it still holds up quite well.
The walkway from the side of the Alamo - if you look hard enough you can see some old people at the end. I waited for ages for them to move so I could get my perfect 'scenic' shot - but they wouldn't budge. Bloody old people.

This was their garden. Cacti were great for them to maintain as they needed all their water for making instant noodles in the microwave - so the local drunk told me in exchange for a quarter, why would he lie?....!

The Alamo monument

Its funny - as we have been on our trip there are things we see that remind of us people we know - a couple of things we saw today we both stopped, looked at each other and said "Vinnie"
This one is obvious...

For anyone that doesn't know Vinnie - he loves DIY (Well so Marie tells him) - we thought the below would have him foaming at the mouth with excitement - look at all those wires and boxes!!!

So we left San Antonio late afternoon and headed back on Interstate 10 towards the other side of Texas - we made it to a town called "Junction" - still another 6 and a half hours to the Texas/New Mexico border. We were going to head towards Roswell and Area 51 - but from all the reading I have been doing on it there appears to be pretty much sod all there...........only some alien remains and I have seen enough of those in the fast food joints we have visited on the road. So tomorrow may just be, one long drive all day - "I spy with my little eye"......................
ahhhhh guys this is all so great..you look like you are having such a fab time. xxx
