Day 23 - How much for a bottle of wine????!

After breakfast in bed (it was a tough day!) - we were picked up at the hotel by out tour mini-bus at 10:15am for our winery tour of Napa Valley. We picked up a few others so the group totalled only 12 people and off we set!

Our first stop was at Hagafen, a small owned winery and we purchased our first bottle of wine.

This winery is so well renowed that it serves the White house for wine! Below are copies of their wine from White house menu's.

Before we all got too sloshed we took the opportunity of having a group shot. The ladies out numbered the men which was a shame

Not sure how this picture got on the camera?!

Karl was our tour guide - he knew everything! Even the capital of Iceland!

Next stop was the Alpha Omega winery - more wine drank and more wine purchased!

The wine train in the back ground - we nearly did this tour but it was double the price and only stopped at one vineyard.

Next up was the Rubicon Estate. This is owned by Francis Ford Coppola (or Godfather directing fame). He purchased it in 1974 and it took over 15 years to return the estate to its original wine making function after years of selling of local land. The house itself is amazing.

Final stop of the day was the Andretti Winery - owned by Mario Andretti the famous Indy Car racer. Property around here is between $300k to $500k an acre so you need big money to own a winery.

A couple of professional wine tasters in action........

We are actually driving back on ourselves a bit tomorrow and heading inland towards Yosemite National Park. It could be an all day drive so we should arrive early evening. Giant Sequoia's here we come!
