Day 25 - Woody Woodpeckers dream home....

We were out at the crack of dawn today (if the crack of dawn was at 10am that is) and we began retracing our steps from yesterday evenings failed attempt to make it to the sequoia trees. We were certainly glad we did turn back yesterday as it took bloomin ages to get there - and there was a shed load of snow on the ground too! (not a good idea to wear shorts today I might add)

So after getting soggy snow socks we made it. The sequoia trees were big, with a capital B-I-G!

That is one tree stump! Looks a bit like something from the mind of Guillermo del Toro....

The 25th biggest tree in the world, 209 feet high and 96.5 feet in circumference at the base....

This one is called the California - the last tree in the park with a man made tunnel. The other one fell down in the 60's.

Little ol us standing in the tree....

They love to give the trees names....bless em

The 17th biggest tree in the world - The Washington! (this is the biggest one we saw). 236 feet high and 95.7 feet in circumference at the base.

We are heading upwards, out of California and to the north of Oregon to Portland. It is over a 10 hour drive - so the blog tomorrow may not consist of much excitement (no comments that it hasn't already alright)
Over and out.
