Day 29 - The Texas Super Doughnut....

After reading up on the Olympic National Park it would appear most of it is still closed off due to winter conditions - so reminding ourselves of our recent snow trip to the Timberline lodge we decided to sack that off and head straight into Seattle instead - the home of grunge music, Starbucks, Microsoft and Amazon.com.

We got into town at mid-day and checked into a Travelodge. There also appeared to be a fondness of the Buick Century here.........

Our first stop was the mighty Space Needle. The needle was constructed in celebration of Seattle holding the 1962 worlds fair. It is well over 500 feet high and has a revolving restaurant at the top!

We paid an extra 4 bucks and got a ticket that we could use during the day and then go back at night and use again - sweet! We were also very lucky today - Seattle is usually shrouded in rain - but today it had 93% visibility - woo-hoo!
By day....

By evening....
By night....
We waltzed into central Seattle and visited the famous Pike Place market. This very much reminded me of some of the London and Barcelona markets we had been to with Dave and Kerrie, full of all sorts of weird stuff!

This one poor fella looked liked he was trying to make a slide away escape..........(its a monk fish for those who are interested)

We stumbled across a stall that sold the 'Texas glazed super doughnut'! We had to get one of course - it was the size of my head - and that's HUGE!

The Pike Place piggy....

Seattle was a pretty cool place - it really did remind me of London, England. It has some cool shops, the market and most of all nice people - ok not all like London ;o)

It also has something called the 'Olympic Sculpture Park' - which is a long walk around the town with sculptures plonked in various places. Here are a couple of them....

So that's it for Seattle - tomorrow is another day of just driving. We are heading out of Washington, through Idaho and into Montana to visit the Yellowstone National Park - only a 13 hour drive, not sure we will make it in one hit.......Zzzzzzzzzzz
