Day 24 - Yosemite National Park....Wow!

We made good time today and got to Yosemite National park in good time to get some sightseeing in before the sunset. I am not going to say too much about the park as I think the pictures will tell a thousand words. I will tell you what you are looking at for some but just look at the scenery and dribble - its breath taking.

This one is part of the park that was burnt last year - this helps regeneration of the wood.

This spot is called 'Tunnel View' In the distance you can see a mountain called 'Half Dome'....

and here it is a little closer!

The Yosemite Valley....

The Bridalveil falls - very hard to take pictures and not keep the camera lens dry due to all the spray!

Trying to get the scale of how large the mountains are is hard - to get some perspective the trees are giant redwoods and are very much overshadowed by the mountains behind....

The mountain on the right is called 'El Capitan'....

This was the range sweeping to the left of El Capitan

Driving back out of the valley this is a view from there....

We tried to see some of the giant sequoia's but there is still a lot of snow around and the road to the Mariposa Grove where they are is still closed. We set off on foot but the walk is a few miles and half way there the darkness crept in and also the fog. We decided to call it a day at that point!

So we are heading back into the park tomorrow to hug some trees - ahhhhhhhhh.
