Day 38 - Washout ;o(

Today was a complete washout. We left the motel with the weather consisting of rain, fog and high winds - no fun at all. We actually made it to Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse but despite standing in the viewing area for both - we couldn't see a thing due to the fog! It was crazy to think that within touching distance from us, just into the mist was an American icon - and we couldn't see a thing ;o(.

We did start to drive towards the Devils tower in Wyoming but the thunderstorm was getting crazy (I have just read reports that there were tornado's around!).


So we booked into a motel at only 1pm and decided to stay in Rapid City, South Dakota - somewhere between the Devils monument and Mt Rushmore. We didn't stay in though! We popped to the local mall and did some retail therapy, then went to the cinema to see a film called "The Losers" which was excellent and finally had a surprisingly nice meal at a local TGI Fridays - and it only cost $28 for the both of us - result!

The weather forecast looks a bit better tomorrow - well to be honest it couldn't get any worse! So we will make attempt number 2 to actually see Mt Rushmore - fingers crossed!
